Experienced machine operators are required to be part of Fortescue's green revolution at the forefront of decarbonising our business.
This role involves the operation of CAT 988 loader with a specialist cable reeling attachment and other ancillary support fleet.

The Cable Handling Operator role reports directly to the Cable Management Supervisor and will be responsible for supporting and working with a team of cable handling operators to safely install HV trailing cables.
Key Responsibilities: Operation of cable equipment, trucks, loaders, and support equipment to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of enabling equipment for the Electrical Excavator to achieve production targets.Coordination with the dewatering high voltage electrical team for any switching requirements.Interpreting and executing cable run designs with mine planning for cable locations from pit crest transformers to the Excavator switch and Excavator.Ensuring process safety controls are in place and working effectively 100% of the time.Verifying that cable equipment is in safe working order and defect-free from physical inspection.Management of cable crossings underpass poles and mats on roads and ramps.Handling cable from maintenance stores to pit crest and return for servicing and maintenance requirements.Performing pre-starts on all plant and mobile equipment used for cable management.Striving to achieve benchmark performance for the Electric excavator across FMG operations.Qualifications and Experience: Operational background with a minimum of 2 years operational experience with ancillary fleet including Excavators, Loaders, and Dewatering experience.Able to work in small teams with Critical path work.Ability to undertake quality risk assessments and problem-solving.Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations (WHS 2022).Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficient user of Microsoft Office and working experience of SAP, BMS & SuccessFactors.Ability to read and understand mine plans.Our Commitment: Fortescue celebrates individual strengths and encourages team members to bring their whole selves to work.
