6 + 3 + 3 month contract – February 2025 start $140 – $165 per hour (inc-Super) – market estimate / negotiable Baseline Security Clearance preferred (ability to obtain) Canberra address – hybrid considered Our client, a Government agency that focuses on geoscientific research, national topography and geological data, are seeking the experience of a Senior C++ / HPC Software Developer (BLAS, LAPACK & Intel MKL/TBB) for a 6+3+3 month contract based in Canberra.
Duties of the Senior C++ / HPC Software Developer Profile, benchmark, and diagnose the ways in which memory, CPU usage and parallelism is managed, with a view to identifying performance impediments and opportunities for improvement .
Identify compiler switches and/or portions of the C++ code base that inhibit maximum performance from being realised.
Identify contemporary libraries, algorithms or computing techniques that might be implemented to improve performance.
Develop C++ code that addresses performance barriers and yields tangible improvements.
Monitor and report on application performance improvements.
Assist with implementing new features and resolving issues and defects.
Skills and Experience Required 5- 10 years experience as a software developer.
Knowledge of C++.
Familiarity with Windows, Linux and Mac operating systems.
Ability to work in an agile way utilising cloud computing assets.
Ability to manage software development projects.
Experience with large scale computing via the use of numerical libraries (e.g.
BLAS, LAPACK, Intel MKL/TBB) is essential.
A working understanding of parallelism, concurrency and multi-threading.
Experience with calculus, linear algebra, geometry algorithms, and coordinate systems (desired).
Solid knowledge of the Python programming language, including package development/deployment and unit testing (desired).
Experience with implementing cross-platform (i.e.
Linux and Windows) solutions on high performance computational infrastructure (desired).
