Key responsibilities include:
Category Strategy & Product Range Development: Craft strategies to spark customer interest and align with their changing needs; plan product ranges by demographic and location to maximise sales growth.Financial Management: Oversee P&L for the Books category, driving critical financial outcomes.Supplier Relationships & Cost Management: Cultivate strong supplier relationships, negotiate to reduce costs of goods, prioritise first-to-market launches, and secure supplier marketing support.Market Analysis: Stay informed on market trends, customer expectations, and competitor activities to identify new growth opportunities.Range Review & Product Optimisation: Continuously enhance the product offering through thorough range analysis.Cross-Channel Communication: Build strong, open relationships with corporate and franchise stores through regular communications and visits.Skills & Experience Required: Proven experience in Books and Magazine buyingSkilled in managing accounts and collaborating with large, branded suppliersStrong negotiator, especially in cost, revenue, and promotional supportCommercially astute with quick market interpretationAdvanced analytical skills for data-driven decision makingStrong communication skills, able to influence and engage effectivelySolid understanding of P&L managementDemonstrated track record of meeting key performance indicatorsOrganised, proactive, and adept at time management
