Butterfly Foundation is Australia's national charity for eating disorders and body image issues, providing a voice for those affected and the people who care for them. Eating disorders are severe and complex mental illnesses with physical complications, and the medical, psychological, physical and social consequences can be long term and for many, life threatening.
Butterfly advocates for improved services from government, health and mental health organisations, and the eating disorder sector, raising awareness in the media and via community engagement. Butterfly runs Australia's only national Eating Disorders Helpline, seven days a week; evidence-based clinical treatment and support programs; and delivers prevention initiatives in schools and the community to combat negative body image issues.
About the Role
This is an exciting new role that has been created as part of a new fundraising strategy to support the sustainability and continued success of Wandi Nerida, Australia's first residential treatment centre for eating disorders.
The Fundraising Coordinator will work closely with both the Wandi Nerida team and the Butterfly fundraising team, in particular, Butterfly's Head of Fundraising and Philanthropy Manager.
This role aims to engage the local Sunshine Coast and Queensland community to not only raise the profile of Wandi Nerida but to encourage financial support of the facility. It is perfect for a passionate fundraising professional with a solid base of experience who is ready for a hands-on and exciting challenge.
Build relationships with local businesses and community groups Actively seek funding from local sources by applying for grants from local trusts and foundations, meeting and pitching to local philanthropists and seeking sponsorship from local businesses Support national fundraising initiatives in support of Wandi Nerida including the preparation of project funding briefs and project reporting for grant acquittals Facilitate donor care for those supporting Wandi Nerida (i.e. leading tours, sourcing images, videos and testimonials for reporting purposes) Support execution of the local Wandi Nerida marketing plan to build awareness and support from the local community Any other duties as relevant to skills, qualifications and training Minimum Requirements
Relevant tertiary level qualification At least three years' experience in fundraising Strong interpersonal skills – including building effective relationships, positive interaction and effective problem solving. Proficient IT skills including experience in using MS Office, Excel and PowerPoint Ability to grasp new concepts quickly, think creatively, and problem-solve in a fast-paced and complex work environment. Self-motivated and professional, with ability to achieve outcomes with a busy workload. Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
