The British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) is currently seeking a Business Solutions Analyst co-op student/intern for the Summer and Fall 2025 work term (May – December) to learn our daily operations, provide high-level data analytics and insights, and participate in a variety of projects.WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOWBCI manages a globally diversified portfolio of assets valued at $250.4 billion and is one of Canada's largest institutional investors.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn the daily operations, perform reporting and analytics, problem solve, and contribute to high impact corporate projects.
This is a great opportunity for you to learn and develop your skills within a fast-moving team, as well as a variety of continuous improvement projects.WHO YOU WILL WORK WITHThe Business Solutions team works with internal partners to design end-to-end business solutions on new products and strategic initiatives, provides lead support to Investment Operations' SimCorp Dimension (SCD) business users, and oversees BCI's relationships related to SWIFT messaging and custody.The co-op student/intern will work under the Senior Analyst, Business Solutions in collaboration with the rest of the team and other stakeholders.WHAT YOU WILL BE DOINGDevelop conceptual and practical knowledge of Investment Operations functions within an asset management corporationGain in-depth knowledge of cash flow and settlement cycles across various back-office functions, asset classes, and marketsProcess transactions for different asset classes and respond to email inquiriesOrganize, write, and map out procedures, workflows, and processes in an effective manner to facilitate easy navigation of information for othersReconcile and monitor transactions, ensuring accuracy and consistency between internal records and the custodian, Northern Trust, while utilizing the Broadridge application to send and cancel transfers, while maintaining effective communication and collaborationTroubleshoot and enhance existing workflows/workbooks used in daily operationsContribute to the investment decision process by delivering reliable cash-related data to portfolio managers and other functionsCollaborate with various departments, including Trade Management and Accounting, to resolve cash breaksUnderstand system-to-system integrations and data flow of transactions, and identify opportunities for improvementDevelop knowledge of relevant internal systems within the department and BCIPrepare and develop monthly Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reportsSeize opportunities to effect change and introduce new ideasComplete other assigned projects, tasks, and dutiesTHE IDEAL STUDENTPassionate about investment management and driven to learn about financial markets and the investment lifecycle processProficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel with formulas and macros) and quick to learn new technologyHighly organized and efficient, able to manage time wisely and prioritize multiple tasksStrong team player and communicator, works well independently, proactively shares information, and responds promptly and effectively to communicationsREQUIRED SKILLSExcellent independent research skills and attention to detailWillingness to learn and collaborate in a team environmentProblem-solving abilities and delivering accurate information under pressureCapable of communicating technical concepts to diverse audiencesDemonstrated interest in asset management and improving operations processesBasic understanding of financial instruments, asset classes, system integrations, project management frameworks, and data governanceExperience or training in MS Excel, VBA, SQL and/or Power BIFundamental knowledge of business and investment-related disciplinesClear and concise communication skills, both orally and in writingAbility to meet deadlines with accuracyInterest in investment management, dedication to hard work, and commitment to high ethical standardsWHAT WE OFFERExcellent career development and trainingWork with a dynamic team in a fast-paced environmentThe development of real-world skills at one of the largest institutional investors in CanadaExposure to some of the most talented, approachable, and inspiring people in the industryThe ability to opt-in for access to Dialogue, a user-friendly app that offers virtual primary care, employee and family services, and mental health supportsTime to connect with co-op students & interns at BCI – build your network and shared learningBCI investment professionals lead a monthly Investment Club to share industry knowledge with employees who work in other departments2 paid days per year for volunteeringCompetitive pay Mid / Back Office: $2,260.00 gross bi-weekly or $2,090.00 gross bi-weekly + vacation leave paid based on 6% of salaryTravel: if coming to Victoria for this work term, BCI will provide a fixed-rate travel allowance based on your locationTHE DETAILSWork term: Summer and Fall 2025 (May – December)Department: Investment OperationsOffice Location: 750 Pandora Avenue, Victoria, BCSpend your off hours exploring beautiful Victoria and Vancouver IslandAll co-ops/internships will need to be completed in person at our Victoria office with the option to work one day per week from home.
