Applications are invited for a highly motivated and innovative Business Manager to join the team at Laidley State High School. This exciting opportunity will allow the successful applicant to work alongside the Principal, current Business Manager and senior leaders to deliver a range of corporate services by inspiring change, influencing key stakeholders and demonstrating best practice. The successful applicant will work alongside the existing Business Manager, undertaking on-the-job training and sharing work responsibilities until the current Business Manager commences approved leave. This position is offered on a temporary full-time basis until 30 May 2025 unless otherwise determined.

About the RoleThe Business Manager will provide regular strategic advice and manage the development and delivery of a range of corporate services in accordance with department policy. In alignment with the school workforce plan determined by the Principal, the Business Manager will lead and inspire the direction setting, development of services, enhancement of school support staff skills and supervision of a diverse and multidisciplinary support staff workforce.
Responsibilities include: Provide support and leadership in the provision of a range of executive and administrative support services (e.g. manage multiple tasks and diverse/multidisciplinary work groups with conflicting priorities and timeframes; interpret departmental policies and oversee training and professional development for school support staff), and recommend and implement changes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of those processes and work practices.Lead and manage human resources for school support staff (through the identification of emerging talent, promotion of excellent performance outcomes and mentoring individuals to achieve their professional potential); undertake workforce planning; and oversee a breadth of activities (e.g. recruitment, induction, training, vacancy processing, skill gap analysis, performance management, rehabilitation processes). Work with the Principal in leading change within the school support staff, ensuring human resource practices conform to current standards and awards/conditions, and individuals thrive in a transforming work environment.Our ideal candidate would possess the following: Bring a depth of specialised knowledge and expertise to the role that enables you to diagnose system and process flaws that impact business services; and proactively address these through customised approaches and policies.Align activities to relevant departmental policies and procedures, utilise experience, knowledge, best practice and historic data to improve business services within the school.Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.
