The Business Manager of the First Nations Justice Office provides high level business support and advice to the First Nations Justice Officer and management team in relation to financial and human resources, governance, information technology, asset management, procurement and corporate reporting functions.
The FNJO was established as part of the Queensland Government's response to the Women's Safety and Justice Taskforce (the Taskforce) report Hear her voice – Report One – Addressing coercive control and domestic and family violence in Queensland (Report One) to address the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Queensland's criminal justice system and meet Queensland's National Agreement on Closing the Gap (the National Agreement) justice targets.
The Business Manager of the First Nations Justice Office will:Provide high-quality business advice and support to the First Nations Justice Officer, Directors and the Unit on a range of financial, human resource, IT, information management, planning and reporting, and other administrative issues, ensuring compliance with relevant human resource, financial management and other standards, policies and legislation relevant to the operations of the department.Undertake project management activities in accordance with project management methodologies including developing project plans, risk registers, stakeholder engagement and communication plans.Manage, monitor, and report on project progress to ensure project timeframes and deliverables are met.Identify opportunities for business improvement in the administrative, financial, and human resource management practices and procedures.Provide high-level secretariat support for meetings and committees, including preparing agendas, papers and minutes, and undertaking follow-ups.Undertake procurement processes for the supply of goods and services required by the Unit in accordance with current legislative and departmental accounting practices.Coordinate recruitment and selection activities, staff employment arrangements, onboarding and exit processes and fortnightly workforce reporting.Make all travel arrangements for the Unit.The key priorities of the FNJO are to address overrepresentation of First Nations peoples in the justice system, and domestic and family violence. The FNJO sits within the Justice Policy and Reform division and is one of seven divisions in the Department of Justice and Attorney-General. The division consists of approximately 200 employees delivering the following functions:
