Overview
We are seeking a Business Manager - Engineering Community to be the engine behind our team's day-to-day operations. This role is an amazing opportunity to help Microsoft engineering and research be successful in Australia and New Zealand and shape the experience of our employees.
Reporting directly to the Microsoft Site Engineering Lead, the Business Operations PM collaborates with local site teams, human resources, recruiting, finance, communications, corporate and legal affairs, and others to deliver programs that:
Engages the region's ecosystems of STEM students, universities, and tech communities as well as customers and partners.Positively impacts our engineering and research employee experience.Encourages the sharing of best practices across the Engineering and other functions in the ANZ region.Works with peers in other Engineering sites worldwide to share best practices.Our ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual that is willing to take on any challenges the day brings with a high level of customer service and professionalism—someone who cares deeply about creating a vibrant and inclusive work environment for all.

Qualifications Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field (e.g., Liberal Arts, Business Administration, Management, Computer Science) AND 6+ years of experience in financial management, business planning, operations management, strategy, project management, human resources, or business-related roles OR equivalent experience.
- 7-9 years demonstrated experience in operations management and execution.
- Exceptional influence and collaboration skills. Ability to get things done working collaboratively across a highly matrixed organization.
- An aptitude to work independently without significant oversight or instruction to achieve results with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail under deadline pressure.

Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred Qualifications

- Ability to build real connections, display very strong people skills, high emotional intelligence.
Responsibilities
- Support the Engineering Site Leader in maintaining a rhythm of the business (RoB) that drives execution of core business priorities and encourages best practice sharing among development centers.
- Support and participate in strategic initiatives or cross-group projects contributing to the overall strategy. Create and implement accurate plans. Develop success metrics and communication approach for these initiatives and projects.
- Partner with corporate communications and local teams to deliver on an internal communication (meetings, presentations, milestones, etc.) and external communication (university engagement, customer, partner, PR, etc.) strategy that reinforces Microsoft's values, brand, and presence in the community.
- Partner with HR, Global Talent Acquisition and Engineering leaders on an engineering-specific onboarding experience for new employees in engineering and engineering-related functions as well as learning and development opportunities across all of engineering in ANZ.
- Partner with leaders, HR, Microsoft Garage, and D&I champs to shape and influence a positive, inclusive, and innovative culture at our development centers.
- Collaborate with relevant teams to deliver programming that shapes a positive, inclusive, and innovative culture at our engineering and research centers.
- Maintain relationships with peers outside the team to ensure cross-group strong collaboration.
- Partner with the Finance team and business managers at each of the engineering and research centers to support financial planning and budgeting. Participate in expense reporting, budget tracking, and reconciliation activities for the team as needed.
- Plan and execute meetings, events, offsites, and partnerships both inside Microsoft and externally with partners.
- Continuously look for ways to simplify and drive process improvements and efficiencies.
- Exercise sound judgment, tact, diplomacy, integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in communicating information and working with all levels of employees.
