This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Education Futures Institute in the Queensland Department of Education. We're looking for an innovative and strategic Business Manager to support the North Queensland Capability team with business and financial processes across our region. The role is fast-paced and will be based in Mount Isa. This position is offered on a temporary full-time basis until 05 December 2025 unless otherwise determined.

About the role: As the Business Manager, you will:
Monitor and coordinate the delivery of corporate functions within the region office, including human resource and financial management. Provide professional and executive support to the Executive Director, Directors, and departmental officers. Responsibilities include: Manage the day-to-day operations of the regional campus (Mount Isa), ensuring efficiency in office procedures and systems, priorities are met, deadlines achieved, and the office functions effectively. Monitor and report on corporate compliance and budget performance of the region and actively participate in the development of business plans and budget submissions in consultation with senior officers and other staff. Coordinate the development, implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of the region's systems, corporate policies, and procedures related to purchasing, asset management systems, financial systems and reporting, human resource management, and administration systems. Provide advice to senior officers and other staff in relation to current and emerging corporate governance and organisational issues which impact on the effectiveness, quality of service delivery, and the achievement of outcomes of the region. Ensure currency and working knowledge of the relevant acts, and procedures, pertinent accounting standards, and business practices and policies for funding and appropriation administration. Lead administration, organisation, and corporate functions to support the delivery of capability programs and initiatives. Work with stakeholders to ensure the effective management and maintenance of site facilities and resources including fleet, to ensure effective management and use of available resources. Our ideal applicant is someone who: Has outstanding communication and customer service skills. Is experienced with Finance and/or Human Resource responsibilities. Brings high-level organisation and problem-solving to prioritise and manage tasks. Demonstrates excellent attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, Content Manager, and MS Teams; exposure to SAP would be beneficial.
