We're looking for an experienced Business Leader to lead the Water team in Western Australia. This team executes projects in the fields of Water Conveyance, Water Treatment & Reuse, Wastewater Treatment, Water Resources, Dams, and Asset Management & Advisory.
As a Business Leader, you will be leading a strategic growth region for Stantec as well as influencing and shaping the national operations of one of Australia's leading and innovative Water businesses. The role suits an enthusiastic, passionate, and determined person who wishes to grow and shape a local team supported by a unified national team.
Reporting to the Regional Director, the Business Leader is responsible for business operations, encompassing safety leadership, people leadership, client service, growth, and operational excellence within the region. You will have shared financial (top line / bottom line) and performance responsibility with the Business Centre Operations Leader, Project Management and Commercial Leaders, and other Business Leaders within our national operations.

Day to day tasks would involve: Work with the Business Centre Operations Leader and Regional Director in preparing annual Business Centre business plans and budgets. Responsible for continuous improvement and effective management of projects and staff within your region (resourcing, utilisation, and gross margin management). Responsible for winning work and achieving net revenue and backlog targets from within your region. Lead collaboration with other Business Centres with a focus on cross-selling to consistently win new work with clients. Provide leadership and direction to all staff and ensure the objectives, actions, and focus of the business centre are clearly communicated. Proactively identify opportunities to reinforce and further develop Stantec's high-performance culture with a focus on talent, productivity, and financial performance. Responsible for regional talent management lifecycle including recruitment, career development, employee engagement, succession planning, coaching and mentoring, diversity and inclusion, and leadership development. Work with project delivery teams and Team Leaders to drive quality and timely delivery of project deliverables to meet and exceed client expectations. Responsible for client relationships, strategic project pursuits, and major project leadership within your region and working towards sustainable growth. Responsible to drive a proactive safety culture within your region and to partner with the Health Safety Security Environment leadership to ensure all company safety procedures, legal requirements, and specific Health & Safety Regulations are met. Work with the Project Management and Commercial Leaders to ensure that the Company's Project Management Fundamentals are adhered to within your region and that local Project Managers have the appropriate tools and training. To be successful for this role you'll need: Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Science, or comparable technical degree coupled with at least fifteen years' relevant experience within a senior position. Demonstrated leadership experience and an ability to create a high performing culture. Strong commercial acumen and significant project delivery experience. An ability to influence and negotiate through effective communication and interpersonal skills. Highly developed client relations and stakeholder management skills, and a thorough understanding and knowledge of the WA water market. An ability to foster a success-orientated environment by displaying collaborative behaviours and exerting measured and balanced influence.
