Requirements: The Department of Agriculture, Fisheriesand Forestry (DAFF) has a requirement for a Technical Analyst to providedetailed analysis of critical business systems, large data sets and ensuresuccessful integration with enterprise monitoring solutions. The position willsupport the End to End Monitoring project to mature application monitoring andwork collaboratively with business stakeholders and technical teams across theprogram and the Digital Services Division (DSD).
The duties performed will include:
Working with business and productstakeholders to understand their needs for monitoring, covering service levelexpectations and current pain points for alerting and notification, through todetailed information products required by developers (e.g. logs) and reports. Working with product development teams tounderstand system architectures, and services including complex integrationswith other systems. Analyse and document stakeholderrequirements, translating them into specific monitoring objectives and keyperformance indicators (KPIs). Identify gaps in monitoring and loggingthat need to be addressed, including by both the end-to-end monitoring team andby product development teams. Undertake detailed analysis of monitoringand application data to support the development of monitoring and notificationsolutions. Lead technical integration of the logaggregator solution and develop correlation of large data sets for effectiveevent management. Extensive experience in identifying anddocumenting business-related requirements for monitoring solutions such asquality of service characteristics (including availability, reliability,response times and run times, capacity, scalability, and throughput) andobtaining business value through data analysis and identification of painpoints. Proven ability to work with new systems andrapidly understand and document the architecture of the system and itsassociated operations. Proven ability to solve complex businessand technical problems with integrated solutions, using evidenced-basedanalytics derived from system and application logs, databases, and metrics. Familiarity with software developmentprinciples and practices, coupled with expertise in database design techniquesaimed at optimising performance. Experience with application monitoringtools, such as Splunk, AppDynamics, and Azure App Insights. Experience using log analytics tools, suchas Splunk, Splunk IT Service Intelligence (ITSI), Elastic and Azure LogAnalytics and developing database queries such as SQL Server and Oracle DBMS.
