About This Opportunity As the Business Development Senior Officer for UQ Venues, you will play a pivotal role in generating new leads and securing bookings for conferences, seminars, weddings, and private celebrations. Your focus will include maintaining the exceptional reputation of Customs House while expanding opportunities at UQ Brisbane City and Patina at Alumni Court, renowned for being premier function venues in Brisbane.
In this role, you will develop and implement creative promotions, incentives, and pop-up bar concepts to attract new clientele and enhance the financial success of UQ Venues. Your innovative ideas and relationship-building skills will help position these venues as the top choice for corporate, university, and private events.
Key Responsibilities Generate and convert leads for corporate and private events across all UQ venues, driving business growth.
Engage with event planners, coordinate marketing efforts, and create promotional materials to increase bookings.
Plan pop-up bar launches, manage social media content, and oversee promotional events.
Conduct site inspections, prepare proposals, and ensure smooth client handovers to event coordination teams.
Build strong stakeholder relationships, monitor sales performance, and report on key metrics.
This position is primarily based at our UQ Brisbane City CBD location and is a full-time fixed-term position for up to three years at Hew Level 6 increment 1. The starting base salary will be $89,861.38 + 17% Superannuation.

About You Undergraduate degree in marketing, event management, hospitality, or equivalent experience in business development or sales.
Proven success in growing sales strategies, managing budgets, and creating promotional materials.
Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to deliver exceptional customer experiences and manage heritage-listed venue constraints.
Excellent time management, communication, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
Experience using Microsoft Office and event management software, with a focus on professionalism and teamwork.
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, and as part of a team.
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia.
