Business Development Manager - WholesaleWe are seeking a motivated Business Development Manager to service the Central and North Queensland markets with responsibility for driving growth within the building materials; landscape and outdoor wood; frame and truss; and associated product markets.
Reporting to the National Sales Manager, the successful candidate will identify new sales opportunities, build and manage client relationships, and grow customer share of wallet across the nominated geographic regions.
The successful candidate needs to be based in the region, ideally Townsville, Mackay, or Cairns.About the roleBusiness Growth:Develop and execute strategic business plans to increase revenue and market share for building products and timber wholesale in Central and North Queensland.Identify and engage with existing and new customers within nominated geographic markets.Expand the company's product footprint within key product categories including:Pine and Hardwood Landscape & FencingStructural Pine FramingAssociated building product rangesNew/Future product category/groupsClient Relationship Management:Establish, build, and maintain strong relationships within an existing customer base and attract new clients.Serve as the main point of contact for customers in the region, offering expertise on timber and building material requirements.Understand market needs pursuant to logistic lead times, and the specific requirements of the territory to deliver optimal customer experience.Sales Forecasting and Execution:Collaborate with head office team to develop sales plans specifically targeting key building product and timber wholesale markets, aligned with the company's broader goals.Deliver Sales/GP% results against budget targets for sales region.Provide accurate sales forecasts, market analysis, and business development reports to senior management.Track and report on sales performance, including key metrics such as revenue growth, GP%, market penetration, and client acquisition.Contribute to annual planning and budget development activity.Industry Expertise:Use existing knowledge of the wholesale building materials market/s to deliver budget targets.Leverage prior knowledge and industry trends, changes in building codes, and competitor activity to identify new opportunities for growth.Undertake market analysis and research to support growth target achievement.Participate in industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events related to wholesale market partners to enhance the company's brand and lead generation.Requirements:Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the building products or timber wholesale sectors, with a proven record in sales (required).Bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing, or a related field (desirable but not critical).Excellent communication and negotiation skills.Knowledge of construction materials, timber products, and relevant industry standards and manufacturing processes (required).Ability to travel as required in Central and North Queensland (required).Valid driver's license (required).Competitive remuneration package including company vehicle or car allowance and tools of trade including laptop/mobile phone.
