Business Development Manager – Power Plants

The Harry James Group is working in partnership with a global leader within the energy generation market, supporting the energy transition towards a 100% renewable energy future.
Our client is looking to add an accomplished Business Development Manager for the Energy Business, who helps customers unlock the value of the energy transition by optimizing their energy systems and future-proofing their assets.
The offering comprises flexible power plants and energy management systems, as well as lifecycle services that ensure increased efficiency and guaranteed performance of the assets.

The candidate for this position will be accountable for originating sales, producing leads, and closing sales deals for our client's engine power plant products in Australia and nearby market areas.

As Business Development Manager, your work will focus on: Business Development, Sales Management, Reporting, and Marketing.
In this position, you will report to the Energy Business Director in Australasia and work in cooperation with the Sales Director in Australia and Oceania.
The position can be located in Sydney, Melbourne, or Perth.
You will be part of the regional business development team, having peers and colleagues in several countries within the region.

Your main responsibilities are:
Promote products/solutions to create a strong market presence and build long-term relationships with existing and new customers throughout the life cycle.
Promote Energy Business strategic objectives and value-based selling propositions to support customers' decisions.
Originate new business opportunities and pipelines for energy new build projects and agreements.
Accurately forecast and deliver sales with profitability and risk profiles according to company directives.
Responsible for order-in-take and order book for assigned markets according to the agreed country plans.
Own customer relationship and opportunity business case/es (Capex & Opex).
Increase awareness of company products and services and develop tailored business cases, promoting the full life-cycle value for the customers.
Accountable for strategy and account planning for the assigned customers.
Follow country action plan, maintain sales opportunities data in CRM, and keep updated progress.
Develop long-term customer relationships & satisfaction by supporting customers in their lead development and decision-making process and ensuring high-level satisfaction during the whole sales process and execution.
Lead and formulate proposal strategy, negotiations, and the contracting process with customers' internal stakeholders and coordinate deliverable tasks with clear expectations.
Lead negotiations technical & contractual and ensure quality aspects related to commercial, technical, risks, and compliance are addressed.
Support customers in their lead development and decision-making with arguments supporting a full life-cycle view.
Represent the Voice of Customers to internal stakeholders.
Develop a solid understanding of relevant local legislation and the requirements for doing business.
Desired experience:
Good understanding of the energy/power sector (IPP & utility, Cement & Industry, Mining), country energy policy, and economic drivers.
Solid understanding of relevant local legislation, regulatory landscape, and the requirements of doing business in a commercial energy environment.
Consultative or value-based selling skills, with the ability to understand customer needs and develop a winning solution.
Experience working with top-tier management consulting/investing firms and governmental energy regulators.
Strong business and results orientation with a proven track record in successfully leading energy sales projects.
High attention to detail, with the ability to drive complex opportunities to profitable closure.
Proficiency with MS Office and SalesForce.com, and ability to learn new tools to support objectives.
Minimum 5-10 years of experience in a business development role within the energy/power industry, independent power producer (IPP), equipment supplier, utility, or other power market environment.
Bachelor's or master's degree in the business or technical field.
