We have an exciting opportunity for an emerging Business Development Manager to support our national Commercial Insurance practices. Based in Sydney, this role will work directly with our insurance partners and Head of Business Development, Zac Robinson.
About the roleThis is a rare opportunity for a Senior BD Consultant / Executive to step up into your first BDM role, or for an emerging BDM to be mentored and developed by the Head of BD. Working directly with the insurance partners, you will be supporting in providing timely and reliable BD services to enable effective implementation of the practice groups strategic plans.
Responsibilities include: Strategising and driving client relationship management activities for key clients, with support from the Head of BD and other BD & Marketing team membersQualifying, producing (drafting and sourcing content), and project managing bids and quotes. Including managing pre-bid as well as post-bid submission activities including chairing kick-off meetings, conducting tender debriefs, and compliance with the bids processes and systemsCapturing and maintaining all relevant matter information for use in bids and capability statements, CVs, website and legal directory submissions, with support from the Insurance BD Coordinator and communications team membersDeveloping and implementing leading marketing campaigns, extracting maximum value for money for marketing spendProject managing the development and execution of a content marketing strategyProject managing the development and maintenance of a full suite of Insurance marketing materialsWorking collaboratively with the BD and Marketing & Communications teams, providing assistance and support as neededWhat the market says Winner: Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards - Insurance Team of the Year, 2022Winner: Australasian Lawyer Australian Law Awards - Insurance Specialist Firm of the Year, 2022Finalist: Australasian Lawyer Australian Law Awards - Insurance Specialist Firm of the Year, 2023Finalist: Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards - Insurance Specialist Firm of the Year, 2024Finalist: Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards - Law Firm of the Year, 2024About you The successful candidate must have prior business development experience in the insurance industry, either from a law firm or insurerYou will need exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including experience in delivering strong written tenders and capability documentationA genuine interest in keeping up to date with insurance industry trends and the implications for the firm and our key clientsWhat Sparke Helmore can offer youOur culture is one which values and celebrates diversity to better represent the communities in which we live and work.
