ICS is responsible for coordinating and bringing commercial rigour to the assessment, development, and implementation of the University's commercial activities.Working under limited direction, in the role of Business Development Manager, you will enjoy facilitating and prosecuting the development of strategic business development plans and generating revenue across two Faculties respectively: the Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics and the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. This role is intended to promote the cross-disciplinary research and engagement needed to respond to issues affecting the health of society.In this rewarding role, you will foster strong relationships between internal clients and external organisations to identify mutually beneficial opportunities for external engagement while also playing a vital role in raising the level of commercial awareness and skills within the University research community.To be successful you will need:Extensive demonstrated experience in generating new business and managing strategic relationships.Outstanding analytical, conceptual, problem solving and project management skills including the ability to understand complex concepts/technologies and convey them to a range of technical and non-technical audiences and to provide recommendations to senior management.Strong team based experience to develop a Community of Practice amongst the researcher cohortDemonstrated experience in supporting researchers to resolve problems to the benefit of industry and the community.Demonstrated understanding of service culture and key account management principles.Experience in negotiating commercial contracts including those of a complex nature.Highly developed verbal and written communications skills including experience in the delivery of presentations and preparation of reports for a range of internal and external stakeholders including government and industry.This position requires a current Working with Children Clearance check.Experience in intellectual property identification and management.Established networks and links with industry, research bodies, relevant government authorities, the investment community, or other relevant associations.Sound understanding of university research management and university funding systems.Enjoy an outstanding career environmentThe University of Adelaide is a uniquely rewarding workplace.
