Business Development Manager (First Nations Identified Role)Location: Canberra-based
We are recruiting on behalf of a client for an exciting opportunity specifically for a First Nations candidate to join their growing team as a Business Development Manager (BDM). This Canberra-based role is crucial for driving business growth in the ACT region and identifying and securing new opportunities.
The successful candidate will contribute to the strategic direction of the company, which is an Aboriginal-owned and operated business focused on delivering innovative ICT solutions to both public and private sectors. Your work will have a direct impact on expanding the company's reach while supporting the economic empowerment of Indigenous people and communities.
Key Responsibilities: Drive the growth strategy by researching trends, understanding client needs, and analysing the competitive landscape to create business development plans.Generate leads through networking, Indigenous community engagement, and industry events. Build a sales pipeline and maintain follow-ups.Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and partners, ensuring alignment with the company's values and goals.Collaborate with technical teams to design tailored solutions, deliver compelling presentations, and respond to client requirements through proposals.Lead negotiations, close deals, and achieve revenue targets while ensuring a seamless transition to the account management and technical teams.Work closely with the business development team to create campaigns and stay updated on the latest technologies and market trends.Qualifications & Experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience in business development or sales, preferably within the technology sector.Proven track record of driving business growth and exceeding sales targets.Strong understanding of Federal and State Government clients and experience with complex sales cycles.A degree in Business, Marketing, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred but not essential.Ideal Candidate: First Nations Background: Identifies as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, with a commitment to advancing opportunities for Indigenous people and communities.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer focus.Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce).Self-motivated and results-driven, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.Willingness to travel as needed.This is a fantastic opportunity to work with an Aboriginal-owned business making a significant impact across industries.
