The Role Context To match the growth of our Alluvium Consulting team, we have recently introduced 5 Business Area Lead roles to complement the regional leadership provided by our Regional Managers. Our Business Area Leads are playing unique roles in the business by helping to further focus our approach to market, build our industry leadership and expanding our technical excellence. As with our Regional Manager roles, each Business Area Lead reports directly to the General Manager. Our current Strategy Business Area Lead has taken on a role within the Alluvium Group to guide the future of our growing Research and Insights Program. As such, there is an exciting opportunity to bring someone into our expanding team to lead this highly important area of our business.
Our Strategy Business Area covers a wide range of important Alluvium Consulting services including policy and governance, environmental water, cultural water, evaluation and catchment planning. Key responsibilities of the role include:
Building our external market presence in the business area.
Driving integration across the regions and further enhancing technical excellence.
Working as part of our leadership and management team to develop and deliver business plans for the business.
Our project work in the area includes:
Supporting state and Commonwealth agencies in water resource management and policy, the implementation of Murray-Darling Basin Plan activities, and project and program-level business cases.
Program design, delivery and evaluation for Great Barrier Reef related programs and activities.
Supporting First Nations communities to be actively involved in water management, including land and water management partnerships and self-determination.
Bridging the technical components of ecohydrology and environmental water planning with strategic landscape watering strategies, determination of environmental water requirements and risk assessments.
Designing monitoring and evaluation frameworks and undertaking evaluations, reviews and audits.
We are not a hierarchical business so you can expect a high degree of autonomy and opportunity. We are looking for someone to join our team to contribute to strategic growth of the business.
Skills and Experience The successful candidate will have:
A bachelor degree or higher in natural resource management, environmental policy, evaluation, environmental engineering, science or similar fields
10-15 years' experience in areas directly relevant to the role
Excellent ability and self-management in interdisciplinary work, information assimilation, analysis and problem solving, thinking strategically
Demonstrated ability in communicating highly complex information in an engaging fashion
Ability to manage projects and programs and work collaboratively with a range of internal and external stakeholders
A willingness and positive contribution to a collaborative and values-driven work culture.
