Today, we are Australia'slargest port for zinc, lead, copper, sugar and fertiliser.Additionally, we handle more motor vehicles and containerised goodsthan any other port in Northern Australia. The goods that flowthrough our ports are grown, mined, manufactured and used to betterthe lives of more than 800,000 people across a vast catchment area,spanning from Hinchinbrook to the Burdekin and west to MountIsa. On average, more than 7.5 milliontonnes of goods, worth more than $11.4 billion, cross our wharveseach year. Thanks to our customers, we are one of thecountry's most diverse ports, linking more than 30 differentcommodities to 130 ports in 44countries. The Townsville port is also anincreasingly strategic forward mounting location inAustralia's Defence capabilities, as well as an importanttourism enabler due to its modern dedicated cruise shipterminal. About the role andyou The Business Analyst Lead plays a crucial role in improving thePort's effectiveness and efficiency by collaborating withstakeholders at all levels of the organisation. The ability toengage, influence and facilitate will be a key driver in succeedingin the role. With a focus on Practices and Processes, the Business Analyst isa key member of the Business Excellence Team, responsible foranalysing business processes and systems, defining requirements,and ensuring the effective use of management systems in meeting theneeds of the business. Manage and lead in-depth analysis of organisationalbusiness processes and workflows to identify opportunities forimprovement that drive efficiencies and deliver value to thePort. Collaborate and codesign, with a wide range ofstakeholders, efficient and effective business processes andworkflows. Manage and lead engagement with stakeholders to understandand gather business requirements for new initiatives orenhancements to existing systems clearly identifying risks andopportunities. Translate business requirements into functionalspecifications that will be used to drive system changes. Act as a trusted advisor, providing insights andrecommendations to guide prioritisation of opportunities. Implement the planning, monitoring, and control ofprojects, ensuring deliverables are completed on time andwithin budget. Lead and perform testing to ensure that solutions meetbusiness needs and are functioning as expected. Collaborate with Change Lead and business owner(s) tocodesign and enable comprehensive change plans. Any other duties commensurate with level andaccountabilities, or as directed by leadership. Experience you'llneed To be successful in the role, youwill require: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Systems,or a related field. National Police Check. Proven extensive experience in a similar role with anorganisational improvement focus. Demonstrated experience of process practice and systemimprovement in an organisational continuous improvementframework. Strong understanding of business processes andsystems. Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaiseeffectively between technical and non-technicalstakeholders. Ability to think outside 'the box' to overcome issues andfind solutions where conflicts and difficulties arise. Proven experience in leading continuous improvement usingtools such as process mapping, gap analysis, root causeanalysis, etc. Knowledge of various project management methodologies(Waterfall, Agile & Hybrid). Flexible and responsive to change, with ability to work onmultiple projects at one time. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong commitment to business excellence and continuousimprovement. Experience with methodologies such as Kaizen, BABOK andBPMN. Knowledge of Australian Business Excellence Framework andQuality Management protocols. Leverage continuous learning: by staying up to date withindustry trends, best practices, and emerging technologiesrelated to Business Excellence and share knowledge with theorganisation. Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365. Knowledge of leading technology tools such as Kainexus fororganisational continuous improvement.
