What will you be doing? As a Business / Functional Analyst at capSpire, your role will provide you with considerable challenge, variety and development opportunity in a client facing environment. You will lead the business and functional initiatives as part of teams delivering exciting and complex work programs for our clients such as power & gas utilities, oil & liquids majors, mining companies, commodity trading houses and brokers. The focus of the role is in Australia and Asia, however the opportunities, if sought, are global (as is our client base).
What are we looking for? We are interested in speaking to individuals with excellent business analysis skill and has experience in Energy and / or Commodity sectors. Wholesale, CTRM experience or financial trading backgrounds are preferred but not mandatory, along with working knowledge of SQL and other supporting technologies. Perhaps more importantly we are seeking people with passion for commodity industries, the technology that support it and developing their career within it.
Key skills we are looking for (not all required) 5+ years of experience working in Energy and / or Commodities.Understanding of the trade lifecycle, including sales and structured contracts (including PPAs), generation forecasting, pricing, hedging & optimisation, trade capture, nominations & scheduling, risk management, settlement and invoicing, and general ledger posting.Developing business processes models and identifying opportunities for process improvements.Building and interpreting trading and commercial data models.Providing market analysis and SME input through factors impacting IT solutions.Gathering, validating and documenting business, functional and system requirements.Creating functional specifications for solutions.Ability to troubleshoot issuesIdentifying issues, risks and benefits of existing and proposed solutions and outlining business impacts.Estimating costs and identifying business savings where practical.Capability to understand code and technology, and simplifying information particularly for non-technical personnel.Comfortable managing a variety of stakeholders, including senior management.Workshop facilitation.Presenting internally, to clients and potentially industry personnel.Assisting with the design of test strategies and approaches to UAT.Support transition to operations, providing Change Management services.Experience in Product Owner and Project Management roles is considered a bonus.Job Responsibilities Creating AS-IS and TO-BE business process models, identifying opportunities for process improvementsGather, elicit and document business requirements through a variety of meansPrepare functional and system requirements specifications, liaising with business owners, solution architects and developers to ensure delivery of accurate solutionsDevelop wireframes, epics, user stories, storyboards, or other mediums, as requiredConfigure solution changes in E/CTRMs or other related solutionsDevelop and interpret data models, as requiredInput into testing strategy and approach, assisting with System Testing and UAT, as requiredManage key stakeholders to ensure the solution will satisfy business requirements Report on progress via JIRA, PowerPoint, Excel or other formats, as requiredWhat to expect as a capSpire consultant As part of a capSpire team, you'll experience the full project life-cycle and be part of a dynamic team in which diversity, camaraderie and professional excellence are celebrated.
