Jenny George is Dean of Melbourne Business School and Co-Dean of the University of Melbourne's Faculty of Business and Economics. This role sits within the Office of the Dean and offers a unique opportunity and exposure to top-level decision-making and business strategy.
The Opportunity
This is a new and critical high-impact opportunity where your work will help shape the future growth and success of the School. As the successful candidate, you will support strategic decision-making by providing insightful data, analysis, and reporting to optimise outcomes for the School. You will also be responsible for delivering high-quality data reports that inform key business decisions, highlight potential risks and opportunities, and identify anomalies that require deeper investigation. You will work closely with the Chief of Staff and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure that data-driven insights are at the heart of the School's strategic planning and operational execution.
Some key accountabilities will also include:
Develop, prepare and maintain regular reports for the Dean, focusing on key performance indicators (KPIs), business performance, and other critical metrics.
Analysis of complex data sets to extract insights and present findings.
Identification of trends, risks, opportunities, and performance anomalies in the business and recommendations for corrective actions.
Collaboration with cross-functional teams to gather data on market trends, competitor performance, and industry dynamics.
Providing detailed analytical support to the Dean, SLT, and other leaders within the School.
Creation of dashboards and visual reports to streamline decision-making and to provide real-time insights into business performance.
About You
A highly experienced Business Analyst with significant experience successfully analysing complex business issues, you will also have a strong understanding of business strategy, market dynamics, and risk management principles, as well as experience in business case development and recommendations regarding investment decisions. A demonstrated understanding of key operations risk indicators and mitigation strategies, as well as strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, SQL, Tableau, Power BI), and experience with financial modelling will be essential.
