Business Analyst Work with large federal government department. Hybrid role Location: Canberra, Sydney Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Business Analyst to join a team in a large federal government department. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, exceptional communication abilities, and a keen understanding of business processes. The Business Analyst will collaborate with stakeholders across various departments to gather requirements, analyse data, and translate business needs into technical solutions. This role plays a critical part in driving the success of our projects and initiatives by ensuring alignment between business objectives and technology solutions. Responsibilities: Requirement Gathering: Work closely with stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and document business requirements for new projects or system enhancements. Business Process Analysis: Evaluate current business processes and workflows to identify areas for improvement and optimization. Data Analysis: Analyse data from multiple sources to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform business decisions. Solution Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and propose technical solutions that address business needs and requirements. Documentation: Create detailed documentation including business requirements documents, functional specifications, process diagrams, and user stories. Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization to ensure alignment and consensus on project objectives. Change Management: Support change management efforts by assisting with user training, communication plans, and implementation strategies. Quality Assurance: Participate in testing activities to ensure that developed solutions meet business requirements and quality standards. Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about industry best practices, emerging technologies, and market trends to drive continuous improvement in business processes and systems. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or related field. Proven experience as a Business Analyst or similar role, preferably in a corporate environment. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyse, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and concepts to diverse audiences. Solid understanding of business process modelling techniques, requirements gathering methodologies, and system development life cycle (SDLC) principles. Preferred Qualifications: Certification in Business Analysis (e.g., CBAP, CCBA) is a plus. Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies. Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements. Familiarity with project management tools such as JIRA, Trello, or Microsoft Project.
