Business Analyst, Federal Gov, 1 year contract with extensionThe Digital Business Division (DBD) has been established to bring together the retail digital functions from the Digital Trade Initiatives, Biosecurity Digital Reform Branch along with the Digital and Analytics Office within the Agricultural Trade Group.
The purpose is to create a range of efficiencies in delivering best in class digital and data products.
The division is responsible for a suite of mission-critical systems and services.
Incorporating the Taking Farmers to Market (TFTM) and the Simplified Targeting and Enhanced Processing System (STEPS) programs, the division's purpose is to deliver important digital business and service reforms for the Department.
DBD is at the forefront of bringing about large-scale change to our agricultural export systems and bio-security cargo clearance systems, using the experience of our customers and stakeholders through digital transformation.
DBD's work is a departmental, ministerial and Australian Government priority which will continue to support Australia's economic recovery from COVID-19.
The Role:
The Department is building significant digital capability within the Digital Business Division.
They seek Business Analysts to join multi-disciplinary teams to perform analysis on how digital services and products being developed can better meet user needs.
The Business Analyst will work closely with Product/Project Managers and relevant business areas, and external users to develop high value digital services and products, keeping our users' needs at the forefront.
Key responsibilities: Engaging with internal and external users and business areas to understand and capture user and business needs and identify opportunities for future state.Working closely with solution architects to design solutions that fit within the architecture standards for the program.Supporting user engagement throughout the different phases of Discovery, Alpha, Beta, and Live; including the provision of ongoing business and technical advice.Converting the conceptual/theoretical model of a service/product into technically sound product features.Developing artefacts and diagrams to define and document user needs and system concepts and functionality.Writing user stories/PBIs for development, maintaining alignment with features and dependencies within stories; helping guide the sequence of development and acceptance testing of the implemented PBIs.Developing content for business consumption, translating technical solutions/features into a simple, effective manner suitable for wider business consumption.Communicating future system requirements to software developers and assisting in system design.Collaborating with service designers and stakeholders to form the bigger strategic picture. Skills & Experience Extensive experience in business analysis for large scale transformations.Demonstrable experience in solving complex problems based on evidence, analysis, and investigation.Strong track record working in agile and multi-disciplinary teams.Human Centred Design approach to service delivery.The ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.Influencing and guiding decisions with senior stakeholders.Excellent knowledge and experience in creating quality visual materials.Collaborative team player.Excellent communicator in both written and verbal form.Ability to adapt and learn how to use a variety of systems.
