Initial 6-month contract with possible extension paying approx $1,000/day Brisbane CBD Location with flexibility to WFH 2 days per week Our client, a Queensland State Government Department, is currently seeking a Business Analyst for an initial 6-month contract to scope the business requirements to support the development of a business case to propose a number of options for implementation.
Seeking a highly motivated Business Analyst to work in a project team within a hybrid project methodology environment (PRINCE 2 and Agile) that is leading the implementation of the water market data and systems reform. The role will be scoping the business requirements to support the development of a business case to propose a number of options for implementation of the water market data and systems reform.
This role would suit a Business Analyst with strong business process and data analyst skills and technical systems experience.
The successful applicant will be embedded in the Operations team and will work closely with subject matter experts to prepare a business case providing options for implementing the Water Market Reform Roadmap data and systems reform (including about water market information, data and ICT systems and regulatory requirements).
As the Business Analyst, you will have responsibility to: Investigate stakeholder objectives, operational requirements, problems, and opportunities to build a set of concise business requirements. Document business processes (both current state and future state) using the BPMN standard, identifying business dependencies, linkages, and opportunities for improvements. Act as a bridge between business needs and technical solutions, ensuring that the business requirements are aligned and best fit within the technical landscape and systems. Engage in technical documentation including the creation of use cases, data flows, and conceptual data models. Work with the Project Manager, business stakeholders and delivery teams to ensure that consideration is given to all aspects of transformation when mapping out future state and documenting business requirements. Identify issues, risks and benefits of existing and proposed solutions and outline business impacts. Work with the Project Manager, business stakeholders and solution delivery teams to identify effective business solutions. Mandatory requirements: Five or more years of Business Analysis experience, preferably on complex software implementation projects, both bespoke and COTS. Demonstrated expertise in both technical and functional aspects of business analysis, showcasing the ability to translate intricate business challenges into comprehensive business requirements to facilitate informed decision-making. Ability to translate business requirements into actionable user stories with robust Acceptance Criteria. Proficiency in collecting and documenting current business processes (As-Is Processes) and conducting thorough analyses to identify areas for improvement, culminating in proposing and documenting future business processes (To-Be Processes) using BPMN standards. Familiarity with working within Prince2 Agile and Agile project methodologies. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, coupled with strong people and stakeholder management abilities. Highly Desirable requirements: Involvement in large-scale enterprise-wide transformation projects. Experience working for a Utility, preferably water. Exposure to working in governmental settings or providing services to government agencies. Experience with wireframing, specifically utilising Balsamiq. Possession of a formal Business Analysis qualification such as CBAP or equivalent. Proficiency in using Atlassian tools, particularly Jira and Confluence. Proficiency in employing Visio for business process documentation. Familiarity with operating within policy and legislative frameworks.
