This position is fully funded by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, based in the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley, and provides services to the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley, Shire of Derby West Kimberley, Shire of Halls Creek, and Shire of Broome.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Bushfire Risk Planning Coordinator to develop and implement the Government of Western Australia's Bushfire Risk Management (BRM) program. In this position, you will work closely with relevant stakeholders to identify and prioritise mitigation activities within designated local governments, and ensure treatment plans are effectively planned, delivered, and evaluated.
Your responsibilities will include:
Facilitate the management of bushfire risk to the community, assets and infrastructure by developing a Bushfire Risk Management (BRM) Plan through the use of the Bushfire Risk Management System and in collaboration with DFES regional officers;
Prepare and obtain approval of planned burning prescriptions, and other necessary applications/permits, that are required to implement mitigation activities;
Perform risk re-assessments following the completion of treatment activities and ensure risk assessments have been completed using the current BRM methodology;
Inform relevant stakeholders of the status of treatment activities and escalate, to DFES' officer, all risks and issues that may prevent the successful completion of mitigation works;
Provide BRM training, where appropriate, to LG staff and volunteers;
Present relevant LG mitigation programs at BFAC.
An unrestricted WA Manual "HR" Class Driver's Licence and current First Aid or Advanced First Aid qualification are essential for this role. You will also need experience and knowledge of emergency management and bushfire risk management, experience in applying bushfire mitigation strategies, conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills, experience in the application of risk management principles, and well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.

We are offering a remuneration package inclusive of allowances and Superannuation up to $111,000 (dependent on skills and experience) per annum for this role.
