The Department has a supporting role for all students in Western Australia and is accountable for regulating and funding Catholic and Independent schools, ensuring both recognition and respect for their independence. The CEO is accountable for kindergarten to year 12 curriculum, assessment, standards and reporting for all Western Australian schools.This is a fixed term position for up to 5 years with a competitive remuneration package, including a salary of $310,540 per annum, plus superannuation and a fully maintained motor vehicle.This position offers an exceptional opportunity to drive excellence and reform across our business services for the public education system in Western Australia.Job DescriptionReporting directly to the Director General of Education, you will be a senior member of the Corporate Executive team and a key contributor to the Department's strategic directions. Your key responsibilities will include ensuring sound corporate governance and compliance with relevant legislation.You will lead system-wide reform and improvement and support the Director General in negotiating resources and contracts with State and Federal Governments regarding the delivery of education services. Strong communication and interpersonal skills will be essential for these negotiations and for meaningful engagement with a range of school, community, and external stakeholders.In addition, you will:Lead the overall direction, coordination, and monitoring of operating and capital budgets.Develop strategies to ensure the Government's financial management and accountability agenda is implemented.Provide strategic financial and resourcing advice to support the Department and Government's key reform agenda and commitments in education.We seek a progressive leader, and applicants with extensive experience in financial and business services at a senior organisational level are encouraged to apply.Selection CriteriaThe role of the Deputy Director General, Education Business Services is critical to organisational and system-wide performance.
