The opportunity
We are currently seeking the Senior Quality Assurance Officer (SQAO) to join our rapidly growing Product Team.
The Senior Quality Assurance Officer (SQAO) plays a critical role in ensuring that learning and assessment materials for Foundation Education and the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers meet the standards set by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) and the organisation. This position is responsible for conducting comprehensive quality assurance checks, reviewing training and assessment resources, and providing expert advice on compliance and continuous improvement to ensure the highest standards of education and training delivery.
The SQAO will work closely with Resource Development Team members, ensuring all materials and processes align with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organisational objectives.
Principal Duties Quality Assurance of Learning and Assessment Materials :
Conduct thorough reviews and assessments of learning and assessment materials to ensure they comply with ASQA standards, the VET Quality Framework and organisational standards. Ensure learning and assessment materials are correctly templated, including following organisational styles and formatting requirements. Ensure assessment development follows the design brief for coverage, structure and evidence collection. Ensure training and assessment materials are contextualised to suit the target audience. Ensure that assessment questions/tasks and benchmark and assessor guidance meet organisational requirements. Identify any gaps or non-compliance issues in training and assessment resources and provide feedback on how to address these gaps. Ensure that any training package or unit of competency interpretations are logged according to product development procedures. Manage the review and implementation of feedback from external validators. Training and Assessment Strategy (TAS)
Collaborate with other teams for the development of the TAS document as required. Ensure that the TAS clearly articulates the training and assessment methods, delivery modes, and assessment strategies that align with the specific needs of the qualification and its units of competency. Review and assess the drafted TAS documents for completeness, clarity, and accuracy, as required. Problem-solving and decision making
Provide guidance to resource developers on the interpretation of criteria within units of competency and how to meet these requirements. Make informed decisions on whether materials, processes, or practices meet compliance standards or need modifications, ensuring that all aspects of training delivery are covered. Determine whether corrective actions or preventative measures are necessary to ensure compliance and implement or escalate these to the PDM. Identify strategies for training and assessment and evidence collection of complex unit requirements while maintaining compliance with regulatory and organisational requirements. Version Control
Ensure documents are correctly version-controlled before sending to external validation. Follow organisational procedures to log quality assurance and validation activities in the relevant Version Control Log. Ensure documents are correctly version-controlled, saved and filed in SharePoint. Perform pre-deployment checks of assessments to ensure version control and validation protocols have been correctly implemented. Collaboration :
Work collaboratively with all colleagues. Participate in team stand-ups and meetings, including presenting training content when required. Participate in gated quality control reviews with peers and leads to provide (and receive/act upon) constructive feedback on course design. Liaise with external stakeholders as requested by the Lead Product Developer / Product Development Manager. Reporting
Ensure project reporting tools are consistently updated, including Monday.com. Early escalation of issues/roadblocks. Accurately report own KPIs and time tracking. Accurately report on resource development outputs. Innovation and Continuous Improvement
Adopt continuous learning and improvement processes in all aspects of the position, including the quality assurance and resource development process. Contribute to a community of practice and shared learnings to help improve and uplift overall team capability and performance. Identify and raise opportunities to optimise instructional design/development processes, including the format and use of training and assessment templates and inclusions. Qualifications & Workplace Checks Required
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (preferably TAE40116 or TAE40122). Diploma of Training Design and Development or other relevant higher education (highly desired). Experience / Skill Level Required
Minimum of 3 years' experience in quality assurance or compliance roles within the VET sector, including a solid understanding of ASQA standards and VET Quality Framework. Experience in reviewing training and assessment materials to ensure compliance with organisational standards. Experience conducting the validation of assessment tools to ensure they meet ASQA standards. Experience conducting the moderation of assessment tools to ensure they meet ASQA standards (desired).
