QBuild is expanding! Join QBuild as a Senior Estimator for an exciting career opportunity to coordinate and manage estimating activities including budget control, client communication, the allocation of internal resources and specialist subcontractors.
QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.
About the role:
You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by leading a team of Estimators and managing complex estimating projects.
Duties and skills involved:
Lead and assist a team of Estimators and support staff to achieve successful project delivery outcomes.
Manage the delivery of estimating programs and projects, particularly those deemed medium to high risk, significant, or complex in nature.
Produce high-quality estimates and quotation documentation for building projects, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and client requirements.
Undertake research and development in project planning, budgeting, estimating, programming, delivery processes, and procurement practices.
Enhance client relationships through effective communication, sound negotiation and the provision of timely, professional, competitive estimates.
Maintain a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with human resource practices, employment equity, anti-discrimination, and workplace health and safety principles; whilst proactively managing the work performance and personal conduct of staff.
Preferred skills and experience:
Demonstrated experience in compiling and project managing complex estimating projects in a building construction and maintenance environment.
Thorough working knowledge of building construction and maintenance legislative and regulatory requirements, principles and practices and contract procedures.
