We have a new opportunity for a Senior Associate or Special Counsel with at least 5 years of post-admission experience to join our General Insurance team in Adelaide, working with a highly regarded team. This position is newly created, in response to strong client demand. Our Adelaide office is experiencing considerable growth and forms part of our market leading General Insurance section of over 200 team members nationally. The section provides advice to insurers, reinsurers and corporates across various lines of insurance. We pride ourselves on delivering outstanding client service whilst maintaining a healthy work / life balance.This role will focus primarily on defending compulsory third party (CTP) claims on behalf of insurers, including those involving complex liability and quantum issues. You will be responsible for and have carriage of your own files, with appropriate supervision. For the appropriate applicant, there will be opportunities to also work with our other teams, where you would have conduct of matters involving personal injury / public liability and property damage matters, as well as working with and for government clients.Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of file management including : reviewing documents and preparation of chronologies;drafting correspondence to the Court and third parties;conferencing with witnesses and preparing witness statements;preparing briefs for counsel;drafting Court documents and attending Court;drafting advices;drafting letters of instruction to experts; andlegal research.About you
We would like to hear from candidates with the following skills and experience : a minimum of 5 years of post-admission experience in defendant insurance law;ideally you will have experience in CTP, however we are also open to meeting candidates with experience in personal injury / public liability, property insurance (including recoveries, defence and indemnity) and abuse;a genuine interest in contributing to the growth and success of our insurance practice in Adelaide;experience in mentoring and supervising junior legal staff;clear, concise legal writing skills; andstrong attention to detail.About us
