Primary objective : Provide strategic whole-of-government leadership and coordination to support the Chief Minister and Cabinet, ensuring effective implementation and delivery of government policies and objectives to reduce crime, rebuild the economy, and restore the Northern Territory's (NT) lifestyle, in the region, at the regional level.
Key duties and responsibilities
Lead and coordinate the implementation and delivery of government policies and objectives and provide lead agency direction to government agencies, fostering cross-agency collaboration. Support and coordinate whole-of-government business through the Regional Coordination Committee and represent the lead agency at meetings and forums including the demonstrated ability to maintain strict protocols and confidence. Build and maintain strategic and collaborative relationships with the three tiers of government, Traditional Owners, peak bodies, and industry and service provider networks and maintain an effective regional network. Lead and coordinate the development and implementation of regional economic development strategies and action plans aligned with government policies and objectives, collaborating with relevant partners. Provide evidence-based analysis and accurate, high-level advice on priorities and issues of regional and NT significance, prepare Cabinet and Ministerial correspondence, and lead the development of Cabinet Submissions and projects. Ability to undertake regional and remote travel as required, including time away from your nominal location. Support disaster resilience and recovery including through Local Emergency Committees and planning. Manage and develop a discreet, agile, high-performing team. Selection criteria
Essential
Demonstrated high-level strategic and innovative thinking skills with demonstrated experience in leading and coordinating solutions, providing high-level advice on current and emerging issues, and coordinating and implementing services and projects. Demonstrated experience in Cabinet and Ministerial processes and high-level written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, with the abilities to influence, negotiate, collaborate, and build and maintain strategic and collaborative relationships with the three tiers of government and key stakeholders. Demonstrated high-level of political awareness, sensitivity, and judgement, combined with demonstrated experience in working from a whole-of-government perspective, and demonstrated understanding of government policies and objectives and experience in economic development. High-level organisational and coordination skills including the ability to work autonomously under pressure, prioritising workloads and maintaining flexibility and agility. Well-developed cross-cultural competency skills together with knowledge of contemporary issues affecting people in urban, regional, and remote areas of the Northern Territory and Nationally. Unencumbered NT C class Drivers Licence. Desirable
