About the Role
Based at Adbri's Birkenhead Plant, this permanent, full-time role as Procurement & Contracts Specialist – Maintenance and Production Services is pivotal in supporting the business through strategic procurement and contract management. Leveraging your background in procurement, engineering or manufacturing operations, you will oversee all aspects of category and contract management, from developing and implementing category plans to negotiating supplier agreements that deliver cost and operational benefits. This role is critical in ensuring reliable and efficient maintenance and production services while achieving financial and performance targets through strong commercial acumen, technical understanding, and stakeholder collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Category Strategy Development: Develop and implement procurement strategies for Maintenance and Production Services across multiple states, managing high spend categories such as facility maintenance, shutdown services, engineering, HSE, and water treatment. Business Partnering and Effective Communication: Work closely with operations, production, and engineering teams to align procurement strategies with service requirements. Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to align procurement strategies with business needs and ensure transparency, trust, and proactive issue resolution. Procurement and Sourcing: Manage the procurement lifecycle, including RFQs, tenders, and supplier negotiations, ensuring cost-effective and reliable service delivery. Supplier Management: Cultivate key supplier relationships, ensuring performance, compliance, and continuous improvement. Cost and Efficiency Optimisation: Identify cost-saving opportunities and analyse spend data to drive efficiency improvements. Risk Mitigation: Ensure supplier reliability and develop contingency plans to minimise disruptions and maintain business continuity. Sustainability and Innovation: Promote sustainable procurement practices and drive innovation in services and technologies. Compliance and Governance: Ensure all procurement activities adhere to legal, regulatory, and corporate standards while maintaining accurate records for audits and reporting. Qualifications and Skills
Previous experience in Engineering or Manufacturing industries, with a strong understanding of operational environments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly and effectively. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams and manage complex, multi-stakeholder challenges. Solid commercial/procurement expertise gained in industry. Proficiency in document, legal, and contract management, particularly with supply agreements. Comprehensive understanding of policy and governance requirements related to procurement and contract activities.
