As Principal Lawyer you will represent legally aided clients and instruct counsel in complex and high profile criminal law matters, while providing management and guidance to a Criminal Law Services team.
The role also gives you the opportunity to contribute to improvements to the legal aid and criminal justice systems.
Job details Position status : Permanent Position type : Flexible full-time Occupational group : Classification : PO6 Workplace Location : Job ad reference : QLD / 611281 Closing date : 08-Jan-2025 Yearly salary : $142759 - $150873 Fortnightly salary : $5472 - $5783 Contact person : Rachel Smith, Director - Mental Health Law Responsibilities What you will do : Represent clients, including preparing matters, instructing counsel and personally appearing for clients Manage and supervise a team of professional and administrative staff Lead, monitor and report on the operational performance of the team Support the ongoing development of all team members Qualifications About you : The successful candidate will have : Extensive experience in the conduct of summary and indictable criminal law matters and related matters The ability to conduct quasi criminal law matters to a high degree Detailed knowledge of the practice and procedure of criminal law, evidence and ethics Experience managing a legal team including monitoring activities against performance targets Benefits What we can offer you : 36.25 hrs per week (full time hours) 12.75% employer super contributions Generous salary packaging available Study leave for approved work-related courses Interested?
