The Role
Ventia, in partnership with the Australian Defence Force, is seeking a passionate Pastry Chef dedicated to creating exceptional desserts and baked goods.
Join our vibrant team and assist with daily kitchen operations.
You'll assist with crafting exquisite pastries and desserts for events and daily service, all while maintaining the highest standards of culinary excellence.
This casual position is based at the RAAF Base Edinburgh, South Australia.
The kitchen operates daily from approximately 5:00am to 8:30pm, with VIP events extending until around 10:00pm.
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Supporting the Head Chef with daily mess operations and food service.
Food preparation including operating large volume cooking equipment.
Assist with preparing cakes, slices, muffins, tarts and other dessert/pastry items.
Deliver exceptional customer experiences, in line with contract expectations.
Support and participate in the implementation and management of Ventia's Food Safety Program.
Clean, sanitise and maintain the equipment and premises.
Support stock management initiatives, including stock rotation and restocking consumables.
Skills & Experience
Australian recognised Commercial Cookery qualification (Cert III or higher).
(Required) Certificate III in Patisserie.
(Highly regarded) Previous experience in preparing pastries and desserts.
(Required) Sound knowledge of Food Safety Standards, relevant legislation and statutory obligations.
Previous experience in a similar commercial hospitality role.
Outstanding customer service skills.
Ability to work autonomously, as well as in a team.
Current Australian Drivers Licence.
(Required) Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance.
As a result of this requirement, the applicant must be an Australian Citizen.
