Armidale Secondary College is a state-of-the-art, purpose-built campus which commenced on its current site in Term 1, 2021. The school draws on the long and proud history and traditions of both Armidale High School and Duval High School. Current enrolment is 1080 students, 25% students are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and 26% of students are from a non-English speaking and/or refugee background. Armidale Secondary College has 130 teaching and 40 support staff with an active P&C.
The school is partially selective (Years 7-10), has a Support Unit (4 classes), an Aboriginal Learning and Engagement Centre and shares the site with the Armidale Intensive English Centre. Current school focus areas include student voice and high-challenge, high-support teaching and learning strategies. Other key priorities include quality systems and processes including highly effective transitions from partner public primary schools, school culture and student and staff wellbeing.

Position Information
Armidale Secondary College is seeking a Head Teacher for Human Society and its Environment. The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of high-quality syllabus-based curricula and evaluate their impact across a broad range of HSIE subjects at all stages for both students and staff.
Selection Criteria
Demonstrated ability to lead the development and implementation of high-quality syllabus-based curricula and evaluate their impact across a broad range of HSIE subjects at all stages for both students and staff. Evidence of outstanding leadership, communication and interpersonal skills in managing a large and complex team with a range of experience, to deliver school initiatives at a faculty level. Demonstrated capacity to engage community stakeholders to develop inclusive learning experiences that are engaging and differentiated to improve outcomes for all students including First Nations students and students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with the executive team to lead, manage and implement school improvement processes and initiatives that address school and faculty priorities, identified in the School Improvement Plan. General Selection Criteria
Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy. Conditions
