Description Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Principal Onboard Project Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Brisbane, Australia.
Key Responsibilities: Manage the engineering processes for Onboard railway systems; Onboard ETCS, CBTC and ATO projects. Ensure the identification, management and fulfilment of the System and Functional requirements for the entire life cycle of the project (incl. design and testing). Evaluation of the system architecture and requirement compliance, overall SRS management and ownership. Liaise with the global Hitachi Rail delivery team, specifically at our centres of excellence in ATO and ETCS in Japan and Italy. Manage interfaces between customers, partners and suppliers acting as the single point of contact for all technical queries. Ensuring all activities undertaken are conducted with due regard to a high-level of continuous improvement. Ensuring all activities undertaken are conducted with due regard to a high-level of safety. Be a leading example of the Hitachi Rail mission, vision and values. Skills & Experience: Minimum 10 years' experience in the rail industry; rolling stock and engineering. Technical knowledge and experience on major railway subsystems; ETCS / Signalling, ATO, Railway Communication, Electrification, Power Supply, Rolling Stock, etc. Experience in technical engineering and interface management as well as professional experience in requirements management including verification and validation, RAM, Safety, operational aspects, testing and commissioning. Work experience as a team member in international projects is highly desirable. University degree in engineering, preferably in electrical, system, mechatronic or software engineering. Initiative-taking, with excellent leadership, organisational, communication and people skills. Agile mindset, able to take prompt decisions in a challenging environment.
