Mount St Bernard College, Herberton Mount St Bernard College is located at Herberton on the Atherton Tablelands. Established in 1921 by the Sisters of Mercy as a day and boarding school, the College enjoys a proud history and a rich tradition.
The college has approximately 180 students, 77% of which are First Nations Students, with a combination of boarders and day students.
About the Role The Grounds & Maintenance Officer will work as part of the Grounds and Maintenance Team to carry out general repairs and maintenance of school building and grounds assets. Typical duties performed may include, but are not limited to:
General maintenance and development of turf areas and surrounds (mowing, whipper snipping, trimming, weeding, etc.) Labouring and operating of some machinery Operates and maintains grounds keeping machinery Planting and maintaining trees and gardens including pruning and weeding Set out and mark playing fields Assist in maintenance of playing surfaces including setting up of greens, seeding, topdressing and fertilising, under supervision Maintains playgrounds Repairing structures necessitating the use of labourer's tools / skills and general labouring duties Repairs and maintenance to school facilities at non-trade level (including but not limited to painting, repairing walls, doors, windows, minor carpentry work, troubleshooting plumbing issues) Moving of furniture and other items as required Maintain simple records / administration Driving College vehicles including 12 seater bus when required Cleaning of buses and other vehicles Maintain appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.
