We are now seeking a Senior Heritage Advisor to join the Land and External Relations Team. Reporting to the Manager Land & External Relations, you will be responsible for leading and supporting the Company's heritage portfolio that includes the preservation and management of cultural heritage as well as fostering key relationships and driving strategic initiatives. This role is critical in ensuring that the Company's operations are socially responsible and culturally sensitive, particularly in relation to Aboriginal engagement and interests.
The Opportunity : Lead planning and execution of cultural heritage surveys and assessments with the appropriate Traditional Owners and Knowledge Holders, ensuring that any findings are appropriately managed and documented. Establish and maintain strong relationships with government bodies, NGOs, Traditional Owners, Heritage Consultants, and other external stakeholders related to community and heritage matters, facilitating effective collaboration and communication. Engage with key internal and external stakeholders to promote collaboration and mutual understanding. Manage and facilitate approval processes, ensuring full compliance with all heritage regulations and requirements. Develop and implement engagement strategies and frameworks to build and maintain positive relationships with local communities, including Aboriginal groups. Identify community concerns and work collaboratively to address them in a timely and respectful manner. Manage complaints and disputes efficiently, addressing escalated issues promptly and appropriately. Implement and administer all native title mining and heritage agreements, including management of all related obligations, relationships and activities. We're excited to hear from you if you have : Formal qualification in a relevant field is preferred. Proven track record of extensive practical experience (typically 5-7 years) in native title and cultural heritage management. Strong stakeholder relationship management skills, including experience engaging with land-connected peoples. In-depth knowledge of heritage and native title legislation, including the Native Title Act and relevant state / territory legislation. Demonstrated understanding of cultural heritage management planning and scheduling. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. Cultural sensitivity and a deep understanding of Aboriginal cultures and heritage. Strong report-writing, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. High level of integrity, with a strong commitment to ethical practices, risk management, and governance. Valid C Class Drivers Licence. Does this sound like you? If so, we'd love to hear from you.
