External and Corporate Relations Vice-Presidency (ECR) The mission of External and Corporate Relations (ECR) is to help deliver financial and political support for the World Bank Group, strengthen the Bank Group's role as a global thought leader in development, and support operational teams to achieve country outcomes.
The ECREA team : Provides strategic support to operations by embedding communications into the operations project cycle and reform processes. Proactively works to strengthen strategic relationships and alliances with key influencers in civil society, media, academia, and other sectors. Provides guidance, analysis, and advice as the trusted advisor to regional and country management teams. Responsibilities The External Affairs Officer works under the overall supervision of the External Affairs Manager. His / her specific duties include but are not limited to the following :
Development and implementation of communication strategies : Responsible for planning, designing, and implementing strategies to promote effective communications on World Bank-financed operations and campaigns. Proactive positioning of World Bank support to PNG and Pacific : Develop content for impact stories, monitor perceptions, and respond to inquiries. Production of communication products : Responsible for planning and delivering a range of compelling products that tell the story of the World Bank's operational goals. Support to operations : Provide advice and support to operational teams throughout project cycles. Partnership and stakeholder relations : Identify stakeholders and guide a strategy of engagement with these stakeholders. Selection Criteria A Master's degree with 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to demonstrate good judgment and prioritize multiple demands. Excellent communication skills, including persuasive speaking and concise writing. Strong analytical and integrative skills. Understanding of the Bank Group's internal and external operating environment. High degree of ethics, discretion, and sensitivity in dealing with others. Demonstrated ability to work flexibly on a range of assignments. Strong proclivity for teamwork. Strong diplomacy skills and sensitivity to the WBG's internal and external relationships. Ability to analyze and synthesize complex issues. Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure. Ability to work both independently and in diverse teams.
