About the Position As Manager, Engineering within Brisbane City Council's City Projects Office (CPO), Planning and Design branch, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of technical experts in delivering high-quality engineering solutions that support Brisbane's ambitious infrastructure agenda. This executive role involves overseeing a range of professional services, including road design, structural engineering, drainage design, and ground and pavement engineering. You will provide strategic leadership to drive excellence in planning, design, and delivery while ensuring projects align with Council's goals and provide exceptional value to Brisbane residents.
Reporting to the General Manager, Planning and Design, you will champion a culture of continuous improvement and innovation, fostering collaboration across teams, stakeholders, and government agencies. You will ensure the Engineering section delivers cost-effective, timely, and efficient outcomes, contributing to Brisbane's vision as a vibrant, liveable, and sustainable city. To be considered, you must have the following : Proven experience in managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering complex infrastructure projects, with capabilities aligned to Council's Leadership Blueprint. Formal qualifications in Engineering relevant to the role, and registration as an RPEQ (Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland) or equivalent. Demonstrated expertise in road design, structural engineering, drainage design, or other core engineering disciplines within the scope of the role. Strong strategic and operational planning skills, with the ability to align projects with organisational priorities and community outcomes. Exceptional stakeholder management abilities, including experience collaborating with government agencies, contractors, and community organisations. A track record of driving organisational change, fostering a values-based culture, and building workforce capability. Brisbane Infrastructure (BI) is integral to this vision, bringing together asset management, infrastructure planning, design, project management, construction, public space operations, and transport planning operations. Within BI, City Projects Office (CPO) delivers Council's projects and programs through effective project ownership, management, planning and design. The Planning and Design team, with over 180 professionals, has a strong record of excellence in designing civil and civic infrastructure. The team prioritises environmentally-friendly and community-focused outcomes and has contributed to significant Council projects such as road programs, bikeway programs, library refurbishments, landfill remediation, sports field development, and flood damage assessment and redesign.
