Company Overview Our Australian team consists of approximately 35 highly skilled engineers, and it is expanding rapidly due to the growth of large-scale PV projects. As we enter new opportunities involving substations and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), our central engineering team in France will provide support to ensure smooth integration and implementation.
In this role, you will report daily to the Head of Engineering in Australia. Additionally, you will maintain frequent communication with the Head of the BESS Business Unit and the Head of Design & Costing in France, ensuring cohesive collaboration and successful project outcomes.
Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Primary Electrical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in substation and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) layout and design.
Within this role, you'll be involved during the sales and execution stages; leading the design, development, and implementation of electrical systems and ensuring all projects meet technical specifications, safety standards, and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities : Design and Layout: Develop and review detailed designs and layouts for substations and BESS, including electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and general arrangement drawings.Project Management: Lead engineering projects from conception through completion, ensuring timely delivery within budget. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including civil, mechanical, and structural engineers.Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and support in substation and BESS design, including equipment selection, protection and control systems, grounding, and power distribution.Compliance and Standards: Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations, including AS2067, AS3000, IEC, local and NSP standards including TransGrid, AusNet, ElectraNet, and Powerlink.Quality Assurance: Along with the central engineering team in France, perform design reviews, inspections, and testing to ensure quality and performance of electrical systems.Client Interaction: Work closely with clients together with the business development manager during the commercial phase and with the project manager during the execution phase to understand their requirements, provide technical solutions, and present design concepts and project progress.Documentation: Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design calculations, reports, and as-built drawings.Mentorship: Mentor and train junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the team.Qualifications : Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus on substation and BESS design, preferably at an OEM or EPC.Technical Skills: Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g. AutoCAD, ETAP, SKM, Cymcap), knowledge of SCADA systems, PLC programming, and testing and commissioning.Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and maintain a strategic approach.Travel: Willingness to travel to project sites as required.Other Desirable Qualifications : Experience with renewable energy projects and integration of renewable energy sources.Familiarity with advanced energy storage technologies and their applications.Knowledge of power system analysis and simulation tools.#J-18808-Ljbffr
