Your opportunity
Join us as a Substation Design Engineering Officer, where you provide the safe and efficient delivery of primary and secondary electrical designs and support for a range of high voltage substation projects across Queensland's Ergon and Energex network.
The positions can be based at Newstead, Rockhampton, Toowoomba, Mackay, Townsville, or Cairns.
Amplify your impact in your day to day, where you will:
Utilise AutoCAD to produce design drawings for assigned projects. Provide technical advice and support during construction. Perform calculations, estimation checking and contribution to the development of peers. Continuously liaise with other key design disciplines such as Civil and Structural, SCADA, Telecommunications, Protection, Distribution Lines and Metering. You will be able to grow and develop your skills and expertise as you are exposed to unique projects of varying complexities, all with the guidance of a highly experienced, supportive and motivated team of engineers and designers.
If you are highly experienced in High Voltage substation design, you could be a Senior Substation Design Engineering Officer. The senior role provides peer to peer development, may sometimes lead projects as the designated project coordinator, and also performs key drawing checks.
The remuneration for your new role is from $152,776 for a 9 day fortnight, or from $172,637 for a 10 day fortnight + 14.75% superannuation.
The remuneration for a Senior role is from $164,098 for a 9 day fortnight, or from $185,429 for a 10 day fortnight + 14.75% superannuation.

An Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent), or Advanced Diploma of Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) supported by a relevant technical or trade qualification. Australian or New Zealand citizenship or an Australian permanent residency. Experience and detailed knowledge in the use of AutoCAD to produce detailed electrical design drawings and models for primary and/or secondary systems associated with substations. We'd also love you to have:
Knowledge of design principles and practices of indoor and outdoor substation primary plant design and/or secondary systems designs. Experience in understanding estimation systems and applications, engineering calculations and analysis. High communication ability with strong interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with your stakeholders. Knowledge of Safe Design principles and Safety Requirements (including relevant codes, acts and standards) relating to design of high voltage substations and associated plant & equipment. Ability to investigate and problem solve complex technical issues, making effective decisions through the application of sound judgement, and presenting findings/recommendations in technical reports or presentations. If you are interested in a Senior role, you will meet the above criteria in an expert capacity, with extensive demonstrated knowledge and experience. You will play an important role in continuous improvement of the design teams' capabilities as you share your knowledge, provide training or "on the job" mentorship, guidance, and feedback.
