What you'll be doing The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is a key position within the newly established Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD) Service at WSLHD. This role provides vital support and guidance throughout the VAD process.
Applying your current experience your daily responsibilities will involve :
Providing consistent, accurate information about VAD eligibility and access. Liaising with patients, families, health professionals, and service providers. Supporting individuals navigating the VAD process with care and compassion. Offering education, advice, and care coordination across WSLHD. Working collaboratively to ensure high-quality service delivery in VAD services. Essential Criteria : Registration : Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Selection Criteria : Demonstrated at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area or equivalent experience deemed appropriate by the Organisation. Significant experience in managing sensitive conversations with patients, families and carers and navigating potential decision conflicts. Understanding of the sensitivities and dynamics entailed in end-of-life decisions and of the end-of-life care landscape in NSW. Demonstrated high-level expertise working with multiple health and non-health stakeholders including consumers on complex and sensitive matters. Demonstrated high level capacity to work flexibly, problem solve, and manage competing priorities to deliver high quality outcomes. Understanding of the New South Wales health system and NSW Ministry of Health policies and procedures with a sound appreciation of the NSW Voluntary Assisted Dying Act 2022.
