Under limited supervision, you will be required to exercise statutory powers and delegated judicial powers of a Deputy Registrar as well as provide high-level policy and legal advice affecting the ACT Supreme Court.
To achieve this, you must demonstrate: Experience in providing high-level advice/justice administration on complex legal and procedural matters with the ability to interpret and apply the legislation whilst balancing the competing needs of stakeholders; The ability to prepare high-level written and oral advice that is evidence-based to determine matters; Leadership and management skills which support the development and implementation of programs that will motivate, encourage, and support staff to develop their skills; The ability to work together and collaborate to achieve individual, team, and organisational objectives. Eligibility / Other Requirements: This position requires a degree in laws from an Australian tertiary institution, or a comparable overseas qualification, which, in the opinion of the Chief Executive Officer and Registrar, is appropriate to the duties of the office. This position requires admission as a legal practitioner, however described, of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory.
At least five years post-qualification practice experience in law is desirable. Previous experience working in a court environment is highly desirable.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a National Criminal History check.
