Holy Spirit Primary School, Kurri Kurri is seeking a Permanent Part Time (7 hours per week) Canteen Officer to join the team January 2025.
Holy Spirit Primary School, Kurri Kurri is located in the beautiful Hunter Valley area of New South Wales, catering for students from Year 3 to Year 6. Surrounded by verdant countryside, Kurri Kurri is known to have the largest display of murals in mainland Australia. The region is full of activities catering to various lifestyle types and is only 35 minutes outside of the Newcastle CBD. A school of 190, Holy Spirit Primary School strives to create an inclusive community dedicated to the intellectual, emotional, social, physical, spiritual, and educational development of each child.
POSITION DESCRIPTION The Canteen Officer is responsible for maintaining the day-to-day operations of the school canteen, including opening and closing the canteen and preparing and selling menu items as per the canteen menu. The position requires the ability to follow relevant food handling and money handling policies in addition to maintaining a cooperative working environment and providing a friendly, customer-focused service to students and staff within the school community.
The Canteen Officer will support the development of strong relationships within the school community, particularly with the students, parents and volunteers, teachers, and other school personnel.
EXPERIENCE / CRITERIA Canteen Manager Level 3A Experience in food preparation and service setting. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated customer service skills, particularly with children. Demonstrated skills in operating a food business. Demonstrated ability to supervise a small team and to show appropriate initiative. Demonstrated time management skills and ability to control day-to-day operations. Experience with volunteers and parent groups. Knowledge of basic financial management systems. Understanding of work health and safety and ability to meet legislative requirements. Demonstrated computer literacy using Microsoft Office applications. Experience in food safety and handling. QUALIFICATIONS Basic Food Handling Certificate (Canteen Officer and Canteen Manager) Current Food Supervisor Certificate (Canteen Manager) Current paid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) number. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Salary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2023.
