Director, Safety Quality & Performance – Perth Children's Hospital & Neonatology

About the Role We are seeking a highly motivated and capable leader to join our team as Director of Safety, Quality, and Performance (SQP) for Perth Children's Hospital and Neonatology (PCHN). This is an exciting opportunity to consolidate a contemporary and consistent application of safety, quality & performance principles at a hospital level, and advance the maturity of the safety, quality & performance function across our directorate.
Reporting to the Executive Director PCHN, you will play an instrumental role in overseeing hospital-wide performance improvement activities and work closely with a variety of stakeholders at all levels throughout PCHN services, to develop and foster a culture of continuous quality improvement and excellence in health care.
Your communication skills, empathy, and adaptability will be invaluable in leading your team, and front-line clinical teams and clinical divisions, to identify barriers, and facilitate change with the goal of driving behaviours that lead to better patient outcomes.
As a key member of the PCHN executive team you will shape clinical excellence at an organisational level, providing strategic leadership and advice on clinical governance, quality improvement, incident management & clinical performance.
Key Responsibilities : Leading and managing integrated safety, quality, and performance systems and initiatives which underpin our operations and support effective clinical governance and continuous improvement; Supporting and developing evidence-based clinical improvement initiatives and strategic safety planning; Overseeing the PCHN accreditation processes, clinical risk management, and compliance with relevant legislation; Leading your team of SQP professionals, supporting their growth and effectiveness, and collaborating closely with hospital leadership, clinicians, and stakeholders; Driving performance evaluation, data management, and the integration of safety and quality into clinical operations; Working in partnership with the CAHS Safety Quality and Performance team to support CAHS-wide quality improvement initiatives, including accreditation. About our Team Safety, Quality & Performance for Perth Children's Hospital and Neonatology (PCHN) drive strategic planning and execution of safety, quality, and clinical governance programs and initiatives to within and across the PCHN medical, surgical, neonatology, operations and allied health divisions, and, together with the broader CAHS Safety Quality and Performance team, provide analysis and advice relating to broader health system reform agenda and key safety issues.
Through engagement with our workforce and consumers we ensure that our patients and their families are active partners in their healthcare journey and contribute to the continuous improvement of our services.
