About the Role The Children and Family Services (CAFS) Manager is responsible for providing operational management, program integration, implementation of evidence-based programs, and sector reform across a suite of programs across Victoria. The role ensures high quality, innovative practice in line with the organisation's strategic initiatives and drives the delivery of targeted services to improve outcomes for vulnerable children, youth, families, and individuals across the Western and Northern metropolitan areas of Melbourne.
The CAFS Manager oversees the teams across the family violence (therapeutic recovery and PUV response interventions) and family services (Integrated Family Services and Family Preservation and Reunification Response) programs, providing high quality service delivery and performance whilst working closely with the wider organisation to deliver on the Mission, Vision, and Values of Baptcare.
The role is a senior leadership role within the Community Services Victoria team and will participate in strategic planning, knowledge management, and reform implementation within the portfolio. The CAFS Manager is responsible for positively contributing to the overall effectiveness of the team. This role will have an additional impact through participation in stakeholder relationships, alliances, sector platforms, and partnerships, promoting a business to government operations in service delivery. The role reports directly to the Operations Manager – Community Services Victoria, and indirectly to the General Manager – Community Services.
About You You are passionate about continuing to grow your career in the Family and Community Services space coming from a leadership role. Solutions-focused and up for making a difference, you align your approach to strategy to achieve organisational and divisional goals.
You will ideally bring the following: Tertiary Qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or other relevant Human Services qualification and/or experience Experience in people management and leadership, with a minimum of 3 years managing a large team within the sector Key Selection Criteria A sophisticated understanding of the complexity of Child protection, out of home care, family violence, and the family support services system and the issues involved in providing services to statutory clients Demonstrated ability to foster learning, inquiry, and innovation Demonstrated evidence-informed understanding of child development and the impact of trauma and violence on adults, children, and young people Proficient people manager, including ability to supervise, coach, and develop staff Strong strategic leadership and employee management skills to lead, mentor, and develop programs and teams to deliver on strategic objectives Strong commercial acumen and business development skills Demonstrated understanding of evidence-informed/based programs and service implementation Ability to adjust to constantly changing situations while maintaining focus on delivery and follow-through Strategic, politically astute, with a good understanding of key external organisations, how they operate, and make decisions Knowledge of, and experience in working within a funding environment High level of self-awareness and resilience and the ability to manage multiple demands and prioritise accordingly Strong computer skills and use of the full suite of Microsoft Office Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills; able to understand complex issues and translate them into simple, workable actions and plans Ability to think strategically, work creatively, effectively, and in an innovative manner Ability to adapt to changing environments while maintaining and promoting client-centred practices Highly developed skills in the ability to diagnose needs, trends, and opportunities and subsequently design and implement changes that strengthen program and client outcomes Commitment to quality service provision and ongoing continuous quality improvement activities Demonstrated initiative and accountability to take a self-starting approach to leadership, management, and maintaining responsibility for own actions Stakeholder management and the ability to coach on the building of strong, credible relationships with local movements and networks, government associations, business leaders, and other relevant stakeholders internally and externally Excellent communication skills, in written and verbal English, highly impactful influencing, negotiation, persuasion, and problem-solving skills Alignment and commitment to Baptcare's Mission, Vision, and Values For You Baptcare is focused on living our values, not just talking about them.
