Assistant Director-General (SES Band 1) Learning and Development The Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) protects Australia and Australians from threats to their security. In a complex, challenging and changing security environment, our success is built on the imagination and intelligence of our team. ASIO's people are ordinary Australians but they do extraordinary things – they are our most important asset. To be successful in our mission, we need talented people who are highly capable, dedicated, adaptable, and resilient.
We seek to reflect the diversity of the community we protect. ASIO is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment, where all staff are valued and respected. We welcome applications from all eligible candidates, irrespective of gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religious affiliation, age, or disability. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples are encouraged to apply. We are secretive about what we do, not what we value.
The opportunity The threats facing Australia are more serious and sophisticated than ever before. In this environment, the need for a skilled, resilient, and connected workforce is vital. This presents a unique opportunity for an experienced and strategic Human Resource (HR) leader to apply their skills and join the mission. We are seeking to fill the role of Assistant Director-General Learning and Development at the Senior Executive Service Band 1 level.

You will develop and implement capability frameworks, learning, and career pathways that support individual, team, and organisational performance. This includes continuing to develop ASIO's leadership capabilities to support effective change, communication, and the ability to confidently navigate complexity.
In addition to applying your skills and experience in a challenging and nationally important role, you will work with a team of HR professionals, with the opportunity to move into other HR leadership roles in the future as part of your professional development.

Manage the learning and development budget, ensuring effective use of resources and alignment with business objectives. Identify, select, and manage external vendors and partners to support learning and development initiatives. Collaborate with stakeholders across the organisation to communicate the value and impact of learning and development initiatives. Build relationships with senior leaders, employees, and external partners to understand learning and development needs and priorities.
