The Operational Science and Technology portfolio provides critical integrated, secure, and effective information and communications systems and services to the AFP. This role sits within the Enterprise Application Services Team and provides operational support, implementation, and systems management for the AFP's major business systems. We work in partnership with AFP teams to enhance their ability to develop, test and acquire business systems through the provision of consulting services and technical expertise.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT professional to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, managing, and evolving policies, processes, and procedures. You will have the expertise to build new servers, both virtual on-premises and cloud, and install, maintain, and support new applications and infrastructure.
You will also be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.
What will you do? The successful applicant will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the AFP's server and application infrastructure in support of its corporate and operational systems. This includes installation, administration, monitoring, optimisation and problem resolution related to Windows Server operating systems, Windows applications, as well as ensuring business continuity and disaster recovery processes are in place and regularly tested. Technologies supported include MS, LINUX, Oracle and SQL databases, M365, AZURE, AWS, SharePoint, Exchange, BizTalk, MQ and Citrix.
Your role will include working to SLA thresholds for incidents, requests, and problems, collaborating with various business and technical contacts to understand their requirements in detail. You will monitor systems, perform server patching, maintain security infrastructure (including antivirus software, email, and internet proxies), and administer Active Directory, including Group Policies. Additionally, you will administer and monitor virtual server infrastructure.
Minimum Requirements You must be an Australian Citizen. A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one. Has contemporary knowledge and experience relevant to the role. Minimum of 5 years' experience in a like or related field. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment. Applicants with tertiary qualifications in relevant field would be highly regarded. Additional Information This position can be worked from any capital city in Australia but will report into the section based in Canberra, ACT.
