The Chief Psychiatrist is a full-time role that will provide dedicated psychiatric expertise to support clinical governance across our mental and social health programs and will promote continuous improvement in the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA). This position will be pivotal in supporting the best mental health outcomes for veterans and their families, reporting directly to the Secretary.
The Chief Psychiatrist will provide expert psychiatric, medical, and general mental health advice on current and emerging issues to key stakeholders including Government, senior staff in DVA, and other government departments as required. The role will engage with healthcare professionals, consumer organizations, and industry on matters related to mental health policy and service reform and delivery.
This is a significant role providing the department and our clients with dedicated psychiatric expertise to support clinical governance across programs and policies, particularly our mental and social health programs.
