Alexandrina Council is seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and highly motivated person to join its Strategic Development team.
As the Senior Policy Planner, you will play a critical role in supporting a sustainable future for our communities by providing professional advice and guidance relating to strategic planning in accordance with Council's obligations under the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 (PDI Act) and other relevant legislation. The Senior Policy Planner will work collaboratively with other relevant Council officers to consider aspects of strategic planning from an infrastructure, environmental, social, economic, and cultural perspective.
Key Responsibilities: Minimum Degree qualification in Urban and Regional Planning or similar discipline and / or commensurate level of experience to satisfy requirements for the purposes of obtaining accreditation at Level 3 with the Accreditation Authority, established in accordance with Section 88 of the PDI Act. Comprehensive understanding of the PDI Act. An ability to comprehend, coordinate appropriate feedback and report on private land owner Code Amendments or other strategic planning matters. An ability to identify strategic considerations for major development proposals and large-scale land division applications. An ability to assist in the management and / or progression of strategic planning related projects. Strong communication skills with the ability to work in a small but influential team and in building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Strong community consultation skills including the ability to communicate with a range of audiences. A strategic thinker with analytical and problem-solving skills. A willingness to provide support and undertake coaching and mentoring to other staff. A willingness to commit to professional development within Local Government. An ability to provide expert advice to and collaborate with the Development Assessment Planners in respect to proposed changes to the Planning and Design. To view the position description click here.
